Japanese Swords : New Tameshigiri Series : Ronin Tameshigiri Bo-hi Blade Model

Ronin Tameshigiri Bo-hi Model

The Blade is differentially tempered Shinogi-Zukuri shape with a 1.8cm Sori.

The Nagasa (cutting edge) is 29.25inches with a Mune-Takashi (high back ridge) and Chu-Kissaki (medium point). it has a deeply cut Bo-hi of Maru-dome / Hisaki sagari style, this is where the groove starts after the Habaki and stops short of the Yokote line giving added strength whilst reducing the blade weight by approx 15% from the solid blade model.

The Hamon is a Ko-notare/ O-midare style which has been border highlighted by using a courser polishing stone with quite noticeable effect.

The Tsuka is 11 inches long mounted with Higo style Fuchi/Kashira and Triple Sakura Mon Menuki.

As with all our range Imported Japanese Ito and Same is used. The Maki work is tight and uniform.

The Tsuba has been chosen for function and simplicity with an overlaping Ume (plum) and Sakura (cherry) blossom crests.

A similar Tsuba is listed in a Japanese Sword fitting Exhibition Catalog and is appraised as a work of the Ko-Tosho School.

The Ume Bloom represents responsibility and the Sakura of how a Samurai should conduct his life (life is fleeting and should be lived with dignity and honor).

The Saya is made from imported Hoki woodand has a 7mm thick Buffalo horn Koikuchi (saya mouth). The Kurikata is mounted with Brass shitodome and a Burgundy Colored Japanese 2.2 meter Sageo. This sword allows for a fast draw with excellent balance for a fast cut through medium thick targets.
