The Tsuba is 19th Century rounded square iron plate, pierced Bamboo Leaf and Snowflake designs the plate has a double sided concave shape and nice iron hue. The Fuchi/Kashira are matching Shakudo with a Tiger in a Bamboo forest, the Tiger depicted in raised relief and Gold leafed. The Fuchi/Kashira date from the late 1800's and are well carved in mint condition. The Menuki are a pair of Shakudo horses with gold highlights. The Tsuka is bound in Green Silk Tsukaito with large grain Same. -The Blade-Kuniyasu forged this blade in the Mino tradition with regular zigzag Gunome Hamon, tight Itame Hada and (almost) O'Kissaki with a turnback Boshi which is typical of the style. The Blade has only a few scuffs and spots here and there, but all aspects are clearly visable and would only require a minimal polish to bring it back to perfector may still be appreciated as is. -Comments-Kuniyasu is listed and pictured on page 165 of the Gendaito Meikan (A book of noted Gendai period swordsmiths). The sword is suitable for cutting / Iaido. A good sword by a noted smith, well mounted in a nice Koshirae and well priced at $3200-. Price $3200- |
