 | This Autthaya style medium sword is made from the rare silver-blue Na'Phi steel, the steel was purchased from a mine at Bo Lek Na'Phi, a village in the northern province.
The steel is famous throughout Thai history as having spiritual powers, giving divine protection to its user, until recently this steel was only available to Noble/Imperial household members.
Its renowned cutting ability and strength have been the subject of recent study as it is only found in a 2km radius of the village.
It is now believed that the presence of nickel in the ore can be attributed to a meteor strike.
This sword was reluctantly sold at the exhibition (In the five years I have been visiting the smiths of the area I have only ever found two other swords of this type).
The sword is mounted with a polished Thai ebony (known as Tiger Oak) and highly detailed brass fittings.
Included is a black lacquered teak sword stand.
